ICE RACE , Each year as the ice in the Trent Canal begins breaking up, strangely dressed people with a thing for being submerged in sub-zero water begin to size up the ice floes with an eye to choosing the most suitable ride for the Great Trent Ice Floe Race. The race is run between two locks and the first team to propel its floe across the finish line wins the chilly admiration of its fellow racers and a fridge full of money for local charities. Many are called, few actually frozen.
